Woods Mill Pediatrics Financial Policy

Insurance

The health-care plans we participate in can be viewed here, but please also check with your individual plan to make sure we are a participating provider.  We bill participating insurance companies as a courtesy to you.  You are expected to pay your deductible and copayments at the time of service.

Please verify with your employer or insurance company if we are participating with your specific plan BEFORE scheduling appointments. Please be familiar with your insurance plan regarding your child’s insurance coverage / benefits for referrals, sick visits, well visits, labs, radiology and prescriptions.  If you have questions, please feel free to call our billing office at 314-453-9549.

Referrals

Some insurance companies require a referral if your child needs to see a specialist for any reason.  It is your responsibility to call your insurance company to determine if a referral is needed.  If a referral is required, please let us know and we will arrange it for you.  Referrals must be requested at least 72 hours in advance.

Lab and Imaging Procedures

Often we will need to order labs or X-ray procedures.  Please make sure you know where your insurance policy gets the best benefits.  If we do not have the best facility for your insurance we cannot be responsible for the costs incurred.

Billing

Your health insurance contract is between you and your insurance company.  If insurance does not pay for the services rendered by the practice within 45 days, the practice will look to you for payment.  Any balance remaining after insurance pays, anything that is denied or deemed non covered will be your responsibility.  If your bill is not paid or you have not arranged for a payment plan we will ask for assistance from a collection agency.  Once your account is sent to a collection agency you will then be dismissed from the practice. The practice will try to work with you to avoid this.

Co-Pay Policy

Co-pays are expected at the time of service.

Divorce Decrees

This office cannot be a party to divorce decrees.  The responsibility of the bill for minors is with the parents or legal guardian.  It is our policy to collect payment at the time of service from the parent, guardian or caretaker who brings the child in for the appointment.  Our primary responsibility is to provide medical care for your child(ren) and not to handle billing or insurance coverage disputes between separated or divorced parents.

Missed Appointments / Cancellations

Broken appointments represent a cost to us, to you and to other patients who could have been seen in the time set aside for you.  Cancellation is requested 24 hours prior to the appointment.  We reserve the right to charge for missed or late-canceled appointments.  Excessive abuse of scheduled appointments may result in discharge from our practice.

Newborns

Please make sure you add your newborn to your insurance plan within 30 days of birth to ensure coverage. The first year of life can be expensive because of recommended well-care visits and immunizations. If you have any questions regarding your insurance coverage please contact your health care plan, your employer or our patient business office.
